Town and Country traces its roots to early 1980's when Kevin Tuck started to develop his bespoke joinery business at the company’s existing manufacturing site in Norfolk. From a background in boat building, Kevin Tuck ran a successful business making bespoke furniture, doors, windows etc for the local and London market. He also began building timber glass houses as a contractor. Whilst carrying out this work, he began researching Victorian conservatory buildings and how modern materials could be used to create modern timber conservatories - a market in its infancy at that stage.

The conservatory market took off and in 1992 Kevin Tuck in partnership with Mark Jones the Design Director and Arthur Lake the Finance Director set up Fine Glass Buildings Limited to build bespoke timber conservatories for the national market. Since then the workshops have developed to become a state of the art manufacturing facility to offer customers a combination of traditional joinery construction methods and an innovative mix of contemporary glazing and weathering components. Town and Country, as one of the UK’s leading independent conservatory manufacturers has always embraced research and development as an ongoing process and constantly reviews the manufacture specification both to keep in line with current Building Regulations and to offer customers the latest technological innovations that further build on the quality of the product.

The company has been enhanced more recently with the appointment of Darren Collins as Marketing Director (who designed and built this website!) and Ken Fairweather as Technical Director who takes responsibility for the project management of each commission.

Despite our considerable growth, the philosophy of the company remains the same as it ever was: to build hardwood framed glazed buildings that are genuinely bespoke and built to the highest standard. To date, we have commissioned over 1000 projects and each has been hand-manufactured and pre-assembled by our highly skilled craftsman, many of whom began their careers with the company. Our passion and dedication to the creation of some of the country’s most beautiful glass buildings is evident with a tour around the workshops and we would welcome your visit.
